Picked up the new album, Looping State Of Mind, by The Field recently. Based on its title you can probably guess what it’s all about: loops upon loops upon loops of looping sounds that slowly build and fade and loop until your mind is completely washed up in looping awesomeness. I typically find this genre either too boring or too over-the-top for extended listens, but this one absolutely nailed it. It’s such a simple, subtle sound, but damn if it isn’t the perfect thing to space out and be creative to. I’ve been really into the tracks “Burned Out” and “Arpeggiated Love” in particular. Those backwards vocals on “Burned Out” couldn’t have been done any better.
