If M83 is your go-to for epically brooding music this time of the year, then New Order is a great antithesis — catchy, straightforward pop with that 80’s synth pop sound that M83 has been wont to dredge up of late. New Order practically wrote the book on said 80’s synth pop sound so it’s pretty easy to hear their influence if you’re at all into M83’s recent stuff. The bass line in “Procession” (above) hooks me every time (LOL).
