Over the holidays I tried unsuccessfully to get Calth to pick up some Trail of Dead. I’ve owned Madonna and Source Tags & Codes or some time but haven’t bothered with any of their new material in fear that it wouldn’t live up to these first few releases. Sources Tags is definitely one of my favorite albums of the 00’s so you can imagine this was a for realz concern. Anyway, I finally went for it and picked up The Century of Self (2009). As expected, it’s no Source Tags, but I can’t say that I’m disappointed. “Isis Unveiled” is just as good as anything they’ve done previously and I’m pretty sure the drumming has gotten better if that was at all possible (see “Mark David Chapman”). Definitely gonna check out Tao of the Dead asap.
Ive just never really been into Trail of Dead, my B. On a higher note though i have officially created two songs today on garageband, i need help with a band name. . .
What’s your opinion on the song above?
I thought it was alright, which is why i said ive never really been into them.
If you find yourself in the mood for some straight-up rock, give Source Tags a few listens — some great guitar work and the drums are incredible. Like I said, one of my favs of the 00’s.
