If you’re into guitar-based pop, Yuck’s debut self-titled album is probably the closest you’ll get to a modern day combo of Dinosaur Jr, Built To Spill, and Sonic Youth outside of the original thing (seriously, doesn’t the song above sound just like Thurston Moore?). In the larger history of independent music their sound is remarkably conventional but for some reason it doesn’t bother me in the least. They pull it off so well I just can’t find a reason to not like it. Fans of the bands listed above should check these guys out.
