New Low coming out April 12th. Their 2007 release, Drums and Guns, is one of my favorite albums of the 00’s, so needless to say, I’m awfully excited for something new. Check out the track “Try To Sleep” from the upcoming album C’mon above. I’ve always loved their songwriting, but I think the way they’re beginning to layer in subtle atmospherics has the potential to lead to something really great. Here’s to hoping C’mon is that something.
Also, they’ll be hitting up Ann Arbor’s The Blind Pig May 3rd, so Scott, you best clear your schedule. You can count on me attending their April 30th show in Milford.
May 3, you say? I’ll certainly look into clearing my sched. Just hearing “Broadway” would probably be worth the price of admission. Speaking of the laughter, my repertoire now includes a godawful rendition of “Shimmer.” A few more months practice, and it should be approaching recognizability. So, yeah, the reunion tour is a go….
Impressive. “Shimmer” has a pretty difficult strumming pattern, so if you can master that, I’d say you should be good to play most 90’s material. I expect our playlists will be made up on the spot based on split second impulses in between songs, so you should probably just learn most of the 90’s mix. That and The Boss.
I just have the “Shimmer” chords pretty well down–still working on transitions. “Elderly Woman Behind The Counter in a Small Town,” however, has been nailed, kit and kaboodle. Also, the intro/chorus to “Scooby Snacks” by Fun Lovin’ Criminals.
