Crooked Fingers: “Phony Revolutions”

I’m in a big Eric Bachmann post-Archers of Loaf phase right now (Crooked Fingers). Red Devil Dawn is a legit classic imo, but I can’t help but love the direction he’s taken over the last few albums. The Spanish-tinged folk angle that he’s been mining hits a nerve that’s familiar while also somehow sounding completely foreign. Check out “Phony Revolutions” from their 2008 release Forfeit/Fortune to hear what I mean. If I ever owned some sort of drinking establishment, me thinks it’d be all Laszlo Toth and Crooked Fingers 24/7.

  1. Whoa, NSFW… Cool song, though. The weird combo of spaghetti horns and fuzzed out Chinese (yes?) works amazingly well.
