Midterms I haven’t, but shit storm of rigmarole I have—I’ve been quite distracted of late, to the degree that I missed the launch of my one week countdown to V-day. What better way to celebrate the upcoming holiday than with a seven six-part ode to the songs devoted to everyone’s favorite love organ, the heart? (Yes, that was a penis joke.) To start things off, here’s Kylie Minogue with “2 Hearts,” a choice bit of dance-diva swagger off her 2007 comeback release, X. It’s pretty incredible just how dour most cardiac-themed songs are, their lyrical hearts suffixed by a gauntlet of aches, breaks, and chains. This song, not so much. Which probably isn’t that surprising given Kylie’s particular….composition. I mean, seriously, do remember her in Street Fighter? Schwing! 3 minutes of pure passion glam stomp seems about right.
