SotW: Hand in Your Head

So it seems Matt’s kicking my ass on this whole blogging thang. Tolerated this will not….be.  I’ll counter his gauzy dream-core with the bouncy grooves of Detroit’s own Money Mark. The name might not ring a bell, but trust me that you’ve heard MM (or at least splashes of his handiwork) all over the place. Known affectionately as the fourth Beastie Boy because of his heavy contributions to Check Your Head, Ill Communication, and Hello Nasty, Money Mark is also the mastermind behind that impossibly catchy keyboard work underpinning Beck’s megahit “Where It’s At.” Anyhoo, check “Hand in Your Head” off Money Mark’s 1998 effort, Push the Button—impossibly catchy keyboard lines are clearly par for the course. Plus I love the way the chorus sounds like some zombie come on (“I got my hand in your head, and I’m pulling out all of your mind”). Laszlo Toth is all about zombie come ons.
