As mentioned before, I’m rolling out some new features here on The Tracks. If you haven’t already, check out the new video section in the sidebar, which we’ll update every few weeks or so. Right now we have up an excellent Creeper Lagoon show from 1998 — make sure you get all the way through. They absolutely kill the last three songs.

Speaking of Creeper Lagoon, their debut full-length, I Become Small and Go (1998), is an absolute classic. It’s the perfect balance of rock, electronica, and shoegaze — just listen to the opening track, “Wonderful Love”, above. The layering of instruments and found sounds is amazing. Couple that with an incredible ability to translate their sound live (see 38:05 in the video for “Wonderful Love” live) and it makes me wonder what they could have produced if they hadn’t signed with Dreamworks for their follow up. I have a feeling no one would be talking about a Postal Service reunion tour today…
